Perinatal Autopsy Finding in OEIS Complex Associated with Other Congenital Anomalies

چکیده
OEIS complex is one of the congenital anomalies not compatible with life. It comprises of omphalocele, exstrophy of the cloaca, imperforate anus and spinal defects with incidence of 1:100,000 live births. It can be associated with other anomalies of urinary tract, genital tract, skeletal defects variably. Diagnosis can be done prenatally by ultrasonography. We present a case of OEIS complex with other associated congenital anomalies like imperforate anus, absent external genitalia, gonads, appendix with single kidney, meningocele and limb deformity in the form of talipesequinovalgus in a 29 weeks foetus. It was delivered vaginally by a fifth gravida female without any risk factors and all the four siblings are leading normal post-natal life.

Split notochord syndrome with dorsal enteric fistula is an extremely rare congenital anomaly that may be associated with meningomyelocele or meningocele, and genitourinary anomalies. This case presented with an additional finding of bladder exstrophy, raising the possibility of a relationship between this syndrome and the OEIS complex.

OEIS complex (Omphalocele, Exstrophy of the cloaca, Imperforate anus, and Spine abnormalities) is a rare defect with estimated incidence of 1 in 200,000 live births. Most cases are sporadic, with no obvious cause. However, it has been rarely reported in patients with family members having similar malformations or with chromosomal anomalies. In addition, OEIS complex has been observed in associa...

OEIS is a malformative complex that associates an omphalocele, an exstrophy of the cloaca, an anal imperforation and spinal defects. Normal development of the cloaca gives origin to the lower abdominal wall with bladder, intestine and anus, genitals organ and part of the pelvis bones and lumbosacral spine. Incidence of OEIS is rare, thought to occur in 1 in 200,000 to 1 in 250,000 live births. ...
متن کاملMy approach to performing a perinatal or neonatal autopsy.
An opportunity to determine the cause of death, factors that may have a role in it, and the extent and cause of malformations is provided by perinatal autopsy. The family may be assisted in finding closure after the death of their infant by the information obtained. Insight into classifying infants appearing normal into one of three groups, small, appropriate and large for gestational age, has ...
